Yemaya is the celestial mother of all living things, the queen of heaven, earth and all waters. She resides in the ocean and her children are countless like the fishes in the sea. Like the ocean tides, Yemaya is a calming ebb of mystery, the energy of the waves that rejuvenates life. The rhythmic movements of water and hushing quiet of water to sand seems to melt one into reflection and serenity.

Yemaya is the mother of many of the other Orishas as well. In addition to being a loving mother she is a fierce protectress. She can fight with a machete and bathe in the blood of her enemies. Yemaya is often depicted as a voluptuous black woman with full breasts dressed in blue. Her colors are blue and clear. Yemaya’s number is 7. Yemaya can help to make your life more stable and offer you security.  She is the mother of all, so she is often called upon when women are seeking children or have fertility issues. Job, money, home, lasting love, and family.

Yemaya is depicted in Cuban Santeria as an example of how a queen should act. She is majestic yet not snobbish, exquisitely attired yet not gaudy, strong yet not strident. And she lovingly takes maternal care of all the children. Yemaya's dignified demeanor and motherly warmth gives comfort and solace to all Santeria practitioners. Her place as a queen in her own right makes her one of the most important members of Santeria's Celestial Court.

Yemaya Prayer: “Yemaya please guide and protect me. Open the doors of opportunity by removing obstacles from my path. Give me courage to overcome my problems and defeat my enemies. Bring justice and balance to my life by bestowing your wisdom upon me. With your powers please give me the strength to fight and win my daily battles. I am ready for your winds of change that bring prosperity to my realm. AMEN.”

Olokun (Yoruba: Olóòkun) is an orisha spirit in the Yoruba religion. Olokun is believed to be the parent of Aje, the orisha of great wealth and of the bottom of the ocean. Olokun is revered as the ruler of all bodies of water and for the authority over other water deities.

Orisha Olokun Prayer: “I praise the spirit of the vast ocean. I praise the spirit of the ocean who is beyond understanding. Spirit of the ocean, I will worship you, as long as there is water in the sea. Let there be peace in the ocean. Let there be peace in my soul. The spirit of the ocean, the ageless ones, I give respect. ASHE.”

Orisha Olokun Incantation: “Olokun bring the bell. Bring the iron rod. That I can use to serve my Olokun. So that I can live as my spirits wish. We have met ourselves. Spirits of the water”.

Orishas are spiritual beings who have been tasked with maintaining this Earth, watching over the affairs of humanity and each has dominion over a portion of nature. Each Orisha is identified with natural forces as well as with human interests or endeavors. These Orishas are mediators between humanity and the Supreme Being. Pray to Orishas because they are already in heaven, and they can intercede for you. In moments of anxiety, you need to hope and believe in something that helps you recover faith and maintain peace in your life.

A prayer is said before the candle as it burns. When the candle is first lit this prayer is to ask for what you desire or what help is needed in your life. Lighting a prayer candle as a way to leave the old behind and begin a new life just as if you were born again, the sense being akin to the resurrection and it leaves your sins behind you, giving a new aspect and a new look into your life, without being burdened by your old sins and you old mistakes.

Prayer is the master key. Prayer is the key to all earthy problems. Praying is more than just mere words, it myst come from deep within you, from you very soul. The exercise of prayer requires tranquility and peace of mind. The essence of prayer is faith, it is your motive power that comes from within you and its movement must be directed upwards to where all earthy favors come from.

Anyone can make their prayers come true. This is as sure as the rise of tomorrow’s sun. If you knew how you would feel if your prayer were answered, and if you could realize, consciously, just how you could awaken such a feeling in yourself, you will travel a long way toward learning how to make your dreams come true. Imagination is the beginning of creation. You must imagine what you desire and believe it to be true. True prayer can come only from within yourself.
