Guan Gong is a Chinese god of war and wealth, who was originally a famous general in the late Eastern Han dynasty. He is known for his loyalty, bravery, and righteousness, as well as his skill with the guandao, a type of pole weapon. He was canonized as a deity by the Ming dynasty emperor and is widely worshiped by Confucianists, Buddhists, Taoists, and Chinese folk religion followers. He is also a patron saint of martial arts, police, and business people.
